Testimonial From Another Satisfied Customer

M and V,

I write this testimonial from the highest most balcony in the suite of a stunning new condo on the beach of Manzanillo Mexico. Perla Del Mar.

I could go on and on about the luxury within the community of this condo with its views of the tugs meeting the ships from what is literally your “own front yard”, the celebrity quality finishing inside and out of every suite and the sincerity of welcome from the staff, but that is only half of the reason to easily call this place home.

All of the accolades are in fact deserving when it comes to the design, security, and quality of the building. Another perspective from a guest with little travel experience is my obvservation of this charming little city and its people.

Everything you’ll ever need is within walking distance of the condo. More than you’ll ever need is a quick, easy, 10 minute drive in either direction. Having rented a car and driven in from P.V.O., we soon found all the local markets and shops and even a few favorite restaurants. The locals are friendly and more than happy to help you along your way. We felt safe while walking or driving in the morning, afternoon, or evening. We felt right at home being completely immersed in what is a true Mexican community. Forget your “all inclusives.” Buy a suite in Perla Del Mar. You won’t regret it!

Testimonial Jorge Cárdenas, RE/MAX Perla Pacifico Agent

No question at all, Perla del Mar Condominium has great value. Manzanillo never had another condominium with this quality and characteristics. I am sure that once this condominium is sold out, it will be really difficult to see one of these homes on the market again. We have seen this situation before on premium properties, especially in a small complex. Pretty soon, family and friends of Perla owners will know the good value that the owners got. Naturally, they will form a waiting line for the availability of these homes. Especially when they realize that it will be really difficult to see the construction of another Perla at these range of prices, because of the higher construction cost. This particular situation, adds even more value to Perla owners, because it means that you own real estate that you enjoy and that will always will be easy to sell. This waiting line is encouraged, because Perla owners have the priority to buy if something comes up available. Perla is a brand new complex with all the potential. It is not a dated property at its highest price. It has higher value from the foundations that make it difficult to compare.

Purchasing A Condo Was A Piece Of Cake!

M,
Thanks again to both you and V for all that you did for us last week … the visit to Manzanillo and the care and attention that we received when we were there certainly exceeded our expectations.  We are absolutely thrilled with the conclusions reached and the decisions made last week … we are looking forward to our piece of heaven being completed.

We knew we wanted to purchase oceanfront property in Mexico but we were unsure as to how to go about making this dream a reality, especially in a foreign country where Spanish was the predominate language. With the assistance of Mark and his team of realtors and interior designers, purchasing and furnishing a condo in Perla del Mar was “a piece of cake”. We were met at the airport, shuttled to a local hotel (where a very good room rate had been negotiated for us prior to our arrival) and toured around the Manzanillo area, quickly gaining an appreciation for the local people, culture, and community. Once we made the decision to purchase the condo, all of the paperwork was readily available for us to review in English. As well, we were able to converse with the architect and other interior design experts who assisted us in selecting and purchasing furniture, blinds, and artwork. In less than a week, we were able to not only have all of the legal documents finalized but also have arranged to have our condo fully furnished and ready for us to move into on our possession date. Things could not have been made any easier with the best part being that we don’t even have to wait around for furniture deliveries!!!

We had a bit of an adventure getting back home.  Flight from Manzanillo to Phoenix went fine, however on the Phoenix to Calgary leg, we got turned around about an hour outside of Calgary because of weather (in Calgary).  Airplane was returned to, and we spent the night (Saturday) in Phoenix; eventually got home to Calgary late on Sunday night (via Minneapolis).  Bit of a change … sand/surf and +30° to snow/ice and -21°!!

Exactly What I Dreamed For

J. and I loved Manzanillo and Jorge was so nice to us. Perla is going to be exactly what I had dreamed of for my semi retirement years. Anyone who knows me well, knows that my dream was to have a place on the water looking out over the Sunsets. I am nuts about the sunsets. When my kids were growing up we always had to stop what we were doing and go to watch the sun go down, when we travel with our good friends I always want to go to a restaurant that looks out over the water and a view of the sunsets. Now I can do this in the comfort of my own condo thanks to you and Vicky and also our good friends T & K.

As far as the construction , I can’t comment to well on this. I don’t even own a hammer. However, I do know good quality when I see it and I am so pleased by what I have seen. We are getting very excited to start spending time down in our new condo.

Las Brisas Appeal

Having traveled the Mexican coast line north of Puerto Vallarta to Sayulita, my husband and I are not really newcomers to Mexico. However, our stay in the Las Brisas area of Manzanillo in January, 2008 was our first coastal adventure south of PV. It appears to have agreed with us in several aspects, because we have now become condo owners in Perla del Mar!

While we were in the Manzanillo Bay area for the month, we covered the locale quite thoroughly on foot, by taxi, bus, rented car, and with an official guide to the capital city of Colima. We experienced a lot and always kept an eye open for a property we could call home during the winter months. After walking through several communities, neighborhoods and listed condos, we determined that what we really desired was a new ocean front property “far from the maddening crowd” yet, accessible to commercial services and, of course, restaurants! This brought us back to the Las Brisas neighborhood where Perla del Mar was in phase one of construction.

Las Brisas is south of the junction leading into Manzanillo Centro and the Colima interior. Traffic becomes considerably lighter in this neighborhood, although you should always look twice before you cross the street! Busses and taxis are still readily available to the larger commercial stores for shopping. However, there are markets and restaurants within walking distance.

Perla del Mar is one block off the main road. Traffic is light on the street side and only the surf and gentle breeze is heard on the beach side. The bay can be mesmerizing and we found that time flies, when watching the water for whales or the beautiful daily sunset. The beach is clean, however on a gradual slope; one should not swim alone. There are only a handful of regular vendors, who travel the beach daily. They are not pushy and do not enter a condo property unless invited by a prospective customer.

We still have exploring to do and restaurants to meet, when we return to Las Brisas next winter! But we are already looking forward to this relaxing and private winter retreat, knowing that there are also plenty of resources to enjoy in the community and surrounding area.

Flying into Manzanillo

This winter was our first time staying in Manzanillo itself, although we have stayed up the coast in Barra De Navidad several times. We have a close friend who stays in a condominium in Las Brisas and really loves it there, so we thought we’d give it a go.

It’s always nice flying into Manzanillo Airport because it is small and you can get in and out very quickly (no big lineups for customs or security). We zipped through the airport and grabbed a taxi to Las Brisas, and on arrival were happy to be in an oceanfront suite, two steps from the beach. There was a small store across the road where we stocked up on essentials and quickly got settled.

Across the street we found a great little restaurant with great food, and good prices and service. We ended up having many lunches and dinner there.

We remember the first morning having coffee on Las Brisas beach with no crowds. Actually there were times when you couldn’t see a soul on the beach, and we could see for miles. There were a few locals and tourists, the weather was great, the humidity just right, the sun shone every day, and there was always a gentle breeze off the water.

Las Brisas beach was one of the cleanest beaches we’ve ever seen with city crews cleaning it regularly. The sand is really nice and the swimming was great. We walked around Las Brisas easily because there is not much traffic as the boulevard is not a through road.

One thing that really sets this place apart from other places, in our minds, is that there does not seem to be any crime whatsoever. We think that Manzanillo is a working town more than a tourist town. In contrast, we were just on a holiday to Playa Del Carmen, and what a difference. In Playa there were always people everywhere with hawkers trying to sell you things. Some of these people were very rude and would never let you be, which really turned us off. We did not experience any of that in Manzanillo. The people in Manzanillo were very friendly and helpful. If we were having trouble communicating in a store with our limited Spanish, someone would always step up and help us.

We tried the local buses and were pleasantly surprised at how cheap and efficient they were with trips to most anywhere in the city costing only 5 pesos (less than 50 cents). Once we figured out the bus service, every trip was like a little city tour, and we got to know the city quite well.

There was really good shopping for whatever we needed in Manzanillo and we found most of what we are used to finding in Canada. The produce is really good and fresh, and you can find any kind of meat, fish or poultry at a fraction of the cost we pay at home.

We tried about ten different restaurants for dinner and did not have a bad meal. If we did have something we didn’t really like, it was because we didn’t know what we were ordering. In the end, Portofino’s was probably our favorite.

Our favorite thing to do was to watch the ships come and go from the harbour. Manzanillo is one of the largest container ports in Mexico, and the size of these ships in unbelievable. Some of them were over 1000 ft long, towering above the water, and every night different ships would anchor out in the bay, constantly changing the view. We saw three cruise ships arriving and departing. Although we missed seeing them up close, you can go down to the jetty at the south end of Las Brisas to watch where they pass only a few feet away.

Also by the jetty you can watch fishermen casting their nets. One morning we watched two of them putting in lots of effort and fishing for about two hrs. It was surprising how many fish were in that one net, enough maybe to fill two pickup trucks. The expats that lived nearby would come and watch them, and then buy fish. Now that was fresh fish!

We spent many hrs. on the beach, just relaxing. Seldom were there more than 20 people on the beach, as far as you could see. We saw flying rays that would jump high in the air, and a couple of times we saw dolphins jumping.

We’ve been to quite a few places on winter holidays and we think Las Brisas is probably our favorite. The weather is always good, not too hot and not too humid (on our trip to Playa, we had one solid week of rain). The beach itself is beautiful; no garbage, nice golden sand, clean water, no crowds - it just doesn’t get any better. It has all the amenities you need, the streets were clean, and we even noticed that many of the power lines were underground. The roads were in great shape and we noticed that the city water, which we were told comes from deep wells, was almost like home. Although we didn’t drink it, we were told that it’s fine to drink.

Being a contractor we’re always checking out property values and we could not believe the difference between Manzanillo and Playa for example. In Playa we looked at a condo, one block form the ocean that was not that nice, had a peek-a-boo view, and they wanted 1.2 million usd.

For now we’ll just keep visiting Manzanillo for a couple of weeks at a time.

Here is our take on Manzanillo

We first came to Manzanillo for the hot weather and the long, sandy beaches. But we have returned often because Manzanillo provides the services necessary for a relaxing stay without the crowds and noise found in large resort communities.

Manzanillo booms

Las Brisas is a lovely integrated Mexican community which many of us from Canada and the USA are fortunate to be able to also belong to. I really do mean that it is a community!

The people here are very friendly and welcoming. There are many small grocery stores, meat markets, and small venders selling everything you can imagine. They are all extremely helpful as we stumble with our Spanish and often resort to pantomime!! They just laugh with us.

Las Brisas is very safe and we have never felt uncertain about walking at night. We also have a flat terrain here which allows us all to have lovely long walks without too much strain that some of the communities built on the mountain sides have to endure.

Some of the small homes and buildings that have sustained damage over the years are slowly being torn down and replaced either by the Mexicans as they can afford it or have been sold to someone who is building a new home.

The beach is lovely and often deserted! We can walk for miles and many times not run into another person! The ocean here is very safe and many people enjoy their daily swim. Often at sunset, the local families who do not live on the beach all come down and sit to watch the sunset together which is really lovely to see, and the sunsets we see every night are usually spectacular. As we have the largest port in Mexico here at the end of Las Brisas we are lucky to watch the cargo ships and the cruise ships coming and going at all hours. It is very peaceful and really spectacular as they go out to sea under the setting sun!

As Manzanillo develops and starts to boom, our property values are also going up but we will not experience the down side of rapid growth as most of the property left here is only large enough for single family homes. We really don’t have room for anymore hotels to bring more people to our beach. We are going to be able to retain our small community as it is and we feel so thankful for that! Here, in Las Brisas, we are surrounded by what we loved about Mexico in the first place - the people. They are lovely, friendly, helpful and hardworking people.

Your new condo (Perla Del Mar) will be a nice addition to our beach and we feel certain that you and your new owners will come to love Las Brisas as we have in the past 5 years.
