About Manzanillo

Manzanillo Highlights

Situated on the Pacific coastline between Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco, the Manzanillo area boasts miles of flat sandy beaches and three beautiful bays shaped by the foothills of the Sierra Madre. The weather is paradise perfect - with sunny skies and temperatures in the high 70’s to mid 80’s from November through March.

With all of its activities and attractions, Manzanillo is without question a very exciting place to be. It has everything from excellent snorkeling and diving to camping, mountain biking and other extreme sports, even eco-tourism, bird-watching, and sailing. The region boasts three professional and world famous golf courses that host important national and international tournaments – Las Hadas Golf & Marina Resort, Campo de Gold Isla Navidad, and Club de Golf Santiago. It has an exciting nightlife with a variety of live music and bars, as well as the historical University Museum of Archeology. Hiking the steep trail to Cerro Vigía Chico and Cerro Cruz is a popular activity for both tourists and locals, as are the famous carnival and “fiestas de mayo,” which include art expositions, cultural, traditional, and folkloric events, and bull-fighting.

Manzanillo Overview

Manzanillo, MexicoManzanillo is a Pacific Coast beach town that is often overshadowed by larger Mexican tourist destinations such as Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco. However visitors are often pleasantly surprised by its genuine atmosphere which reflects the essences of “real Mexico.”

We are proud to say that International Living, a widely read and followed publication, has for the second consecutive year chosen Mexico as it’s top ‘Global Retirement’ destination.  In addition it has narrowed the choice of cities in Mexico to three, with Manzanillo being the only coastal city in this ‘Index’.  It even refers to Las Brisas beach as one of the best beaches in Manzanillo.

Spanish conquistadors were the first Europeans to sail into Manzanillo in the early 16th century. They dropped anchor in the twin bays that are flanked by the rugged Sierra Madre mountain range that tumbles into the sparkling sea in a series of coves and peninsulas.

Manzanillo rose to fame in the mid-1980s with the popularity of the movie, “10”, which featured Bo Derek and Dudley Moore cavorting on its cream sand beaches. Soon movie stars and Hollywood royalty were flocking to the wide sands and Manzanillo was an international hot spot.

Today, the atmosphere is relaxed, the beaches are clean and there is never a shortage of beachfront markets to explore or beaches to discover. The Manzanillo real estate market is booming. A plethora of outdoor pursuits keeps adventure lovers happy: deep sea fishing, championship golf on a Dye brothers 18-hole course, scuba diving and snorkeling, boating, hiking and exploring are popular options. The downtown area bustles with energy thanks to an international shipping port which heralds imports from Asian Pacific nations and South America.

Perla del Mar is located in Las Brisas, just minutes away from countless fabulous international dining options, shopping, two Mexican chain supermarkets, Cinepolis movie theaters, Wal-Mart and Manzanillo’s down-to-earth night life.
